Soundblaster not working under Windows XP?

I just installed a SoundBlaster external soundcard on my Dell laptop. everything seems to be working great, including my midi applications. but when i try to play media through realplayer, i don't get any sound. i'm running XP.

anyone know what's up?

Sounds like you may need to reinstall realplayer. I recommend Media Player Classic, which uses many different formats (including Windows Media Player and Realmedia) that won't hog your system resources or give you anger inducing advertisements. You can find it @ http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm . Also, you made sure to disable your onboard sound through the BIOS, correct?

The file you need to download is called the Kazaa Lite Codec pack. This does not install kazaa, it is a work of love by anonymous people that tries to make it so a computer can download a single file and play back almost every kind of media file out there.

Ahem I forgot... remove the current Realplayer software before installing the Codec Pack.
