i'm going into prison shortly, my baby-momma has started injecting, my mother is almost dead of lung cancer and i'm in love with my best friend's wife. what the hell happened to my life?

What happened is some combination of bad fortune and bad decisions; no-one here knows the proportion any better that you do. The prognosis is that it's not almost certainly irredeemable situation, and what will happen from here is still largely in your hands.

You fucked it up. I doubt you meant to, but choices lead to responses to those choices. I'm not saying you made bad ones (you're the only person who can decide that), but they're the choices you made, for better or worse.
So, what are you going to do now? Sit in prison and wallow in your misery, guilt and self pity? Or use this chance and the insight you have to turn your life around? What you are going to do is more important than what you've done, in some respects.
