Web links not working on iPhone

Why don't my web links work on my iPhone? Any obvious way to fix this?

Suddenly yesterday the web links in Safari on my iPhone are dead. I can open pages by typing in web addresses or using bookmarks, but once I'm on a page none of the 'clicks' that we access by finger touch operates. So I'm writiing this from my laptop not my phone. I've had the iPhone for three weeks and have had no other problems. Any ideas?

Best answer: This has happened to me a couple of times. Both times power-cycling the phone took care of it.

Another option is to hold down the Home button for at least 4 seconds, which closes the offending program completely. That usually does the trick without needing to reboot.

I tried that first, thinking it would be quicker, but no luck.
