Emulator for playing my old computer games with a newer computer?

Oregon Trail. A-Train. Some of the games of my childhood ... and I still have the original media. But apparently my graphics card and computer are too fast or just plain wrong for these games. Is there some sort of emulator that I can get to slow my box back down and fix the graphics issues?

that I can get to slow my box back down

WindowsXP? ha ha, I kid, I kid.

Some people like DOSBox, I haven't actually gotten around to trying it yet.

You can try Mo'Slo.

VDMSound is also a useful utility, but your best bet would be to use VMWare or Bochs running an appropriate MS-DOS version.

Another slowdown utility is Bremze.

Why not try to get a C64 or Atari emulator going, find the disk images of these programs, and run that? That way, the sound issues, the graphics issues, and the speed issues will already be taken care of.

Illegal, yes, but you have the actual media, so you have morale rights to do this.

What if I just want to play Oregon Trail and I don't have the original media?
