Dashboard = OSX, ? = XP

Determine the result please; Dashboard = Mac OSX, ? = Windows XP

I REALLY like the OSX dashboard on my laptop, especially when hitting the F12 key it supercedes the present program, and gives me up to date info that I have installed.

But, what is the XP equivalent of Dashboard? Is there one, or am I pining for the fjords of Norway? I know that Firefox has add-ins for various functions, but I like the suspension of the existing operation and getting the info straight away. (If you use OSX, you will know what I mean). It would be nice to have the same functionality at work on my XP box.

Bonus marks for freeware/OSS.

Thanks to all who take the time to respond.

Seconding that, it's a great program. I love my weather widget.

Opera has had "widgets" built-in for a version or two. I haven't really used them since I'm on a Mac. Don't know why you'd want them in your browser rather than Konfabulator, except for maybe RAM savings(??). Perhaps you can do some real life testing and get back to us...

I like Objectdock. It's not nearly as slick looking as Konfabulator, but can be tuned to function very much like the Mac I wish I owned. There is a free version that works fine,

For whatever it's worth, such a mechanism is built into Vista.

Did you even try?

Konfabulator *was* Dashboard, and was originally OS X only, before Apple stole simultaneously invented the same thing a year later... and built it into Tiger.
