Need 8x12 Photos printed immediately

Help! I need 8" x 12" photos printed in Brooklyn Immediately! That's 8 inches by TWELVE inches -- not 8x10s

I assumed my Rebel shot 8x10 ratio, but it actually shoots 8x12. I kept the aspect ratio the same when cropping in lightroom, then did all the retouching in photoshop and now we have beautiful 8x12 inch photos we need printed as soon as possible.

I uploaded the images to Flickr, ordered 8x10 prints from target and now my friend is at the photo counter, looking at the creative ways they were cropped and almost crying. They're due today.

Duane Reade only does 8x12s, I'm checking on CVS but I expect the same.

We need a place she can run to, give them a list of links, and have them print out the photos to 8x12 as soon as possible.

She's at the Target on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn so the closer to there, the better. Manhattan might be doable.

She's not computer savvy so if they can help her with getting the files that would be great, if not I can walk her through downloading them/burning them at some net cafe somewhere.

This is probably all over the place but we're all a little frantic. Thanks!

You could try http://www.spectraphotodigital.com/. They always do great work for me, but it would mean a trip into Manhattan. You can upload your files to them, though so you'd just need to pick them up. I'd give them a call and see if they can do it right away for you!

Costco? They print 8x12 - don't know if they can help with getting files or not.

We're adding blank space to the edges so the files are 8x10, with 10x6.6 image areas to be cropped by hand after she gets them. I'm hoping this works...

If it doesn't work, Spectra is our next stop! Thanks Blaney!

It's worth noting that 35mm film and its digital equivalents - like the Rebel - are always 2:3. The 'standard' print sizes are 4x6 (2:3), 5x7 (5:7) and 8x10 (4:5). Yes, this is... strange.

I'm not sure how fast these labs are, but try:
B&H
Adorama
Alkit
C-Lab
Diapositive
Imagination Lab

Most digital SLRs shoot at an 2:3 aspect ratio, so it might be easier for her to tell the shop that you shot it on a digital SLR at 2:3 ratio and don't want any cropping. I do all of my printing online at WHCC and they handle 8x12s just fine.

It's not Brooklyn, but a not-too-bad train ride away:
Ritz Camera
Westside Camera
2400 Broadway (at 88th St)
New York, NY 10024
Phone: 212-877-8760

I think they can print to those specifications, and I've had them print things for me in less than an hour.

Adorama. Upload, print, and I think you can pick up same day. Yes, you'll have to go to manhattan. But it is same day.

Any place with a Frontier can do 8x12s. They're printed on 8-inch-wide paper, so doing a x12 is just as easy as doing a x10, it's basically just a different button you press when sending in the order.

Any Ritz Camera and most other one-hour type places ought to be able to do it. Most Costcos and Sam's Clubs as well, but there you have to worry a bit more about whether the person running the machine knows how to use it to do anything besides the most common jobs (in my experience the smaller shops seem to have marginally better-trained employees than some of the big stores, although I admit there are exceptions).

I'll also put out there that I think most Ritz Camera locations have internet access (because they do their own online-submission thing), although whether they can go to any website they want, say to Flickr to download your images, I'm not sure.

I'd start making phone calls. At worst, you can submit the photos and then send her to go pick them up.

Adorama is probably your best bet in terms of quality but I suspect there's a Ritz that's closer. They have seemingly one in every strip mall in the universe.

Modernage in Manhattan.

Anyone could print your 8x12 on larger paper and then cut it down to the right size.

When i had to take crap to a (non-pro) lab I would just make the document size 8x10 in Photoshop and and submit the file with the white space. Always worked.

Wow... I worked in photofinishing for years and we would only do 8x10 on demand... the prints came out of the printer 8x12. I hope this worked out for you.

(By "do 8x10" I mean crop to size after the fact.)
