Where can I have a huge MySQL database hosted?

Where can I have a huge MySQL database hosted? My current host only allows databases of up to 100Mb in size, but I have one of just over 1Gb - anyone know a web host that will allow such a thing? (I'm in the UK if that matters.) Cheaply, of course!

Any host will suggest a dedicated server for a db that size (assuming you are running an application that interacts with it, not just storing it.) Talk to Fanclub Media. Fanclub are super nice people who give great personalized service -- just let them know what you're looking for specifically.

How much are you willing to manage yourself and pay? Virtual machines usually comes with much more space than 1GB and are pretty cheap. But you would have to administer a Linux server all by yourself then.

I'm for example using bytemark, based in London, for my servers (£15.00 per month for the cheapest server, with 10GB disk space)

I recommended dedicated hosting too. Don't know about bytemark's better offerings, but I just cancelled the lowest-end account on grounds of incredible slowness, even after a server move.

I moved to a Mac Mini colo in London with Mythic Beasts (here). It costs £20 a month more, but I get total control and it's blazing fast for what I'm doing.

I've been using these guys' services for a while, and have been satisfied with the results. Support has always been top-notch and prompt. And friendly too.

They're based in Rhode Island, fwiw. And, looks like they have 1.2 GB for $8/mo.

Disclaimer: No, I don't work for them, silly. They work for me!

Thanks everyone. Ironically I use Mythic Beasts for other projects - so maybe it's time for me to look at their colo services now!
