Looking for a new gynecologist in Denver

I need to find a new gynecologist in Denver

I recently moved back to Denver after four years at an out of state college.

The gynecologist I have right now is terrible. She wouldn't believe me when I told her I wasn't sexually active and tried to get me to take birth control. She also conducted the exam as if I were sexually active.

She's trying to get me to take a vaccine that is common for people my age to take. Only problem with that is that I have rheumatoid arthritis and am now a lot of immuno-suppressors right now.

It's been hard to find a new gynecologist. It seems like most won't take you on as a patient unless you are pregnant.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need to contact me for followup, please send all messages to askmefi at yahoo dot com. Thanks everyone!

Nthing PlannedParenthood if there's one nearby. They're usually good/non-pressuring/mellow toward all kinds of different lifestyles.

I'm so sorry you've had such a bad experience. There's nothing more disappointing than a doctor who won't believe a word you say (what, is this an episode of House that I missed?)

Planned Parenthood is a really good option, as anaelith mentioned. I've always found them to be very accepting and pro-active in helping you with your healthcare yet not dictating to you what you should or shouldn't do. They may also be willing to refer you to a local women-friendly doctor if you're having a hard time finding one you like.

I know that when I lived in Boston, for example, a friend of mine frequently referred her gay clients to an all-lesbian medical practice because they had a really hard time finding a doctor who didn't base all his/her assumptions on heterosexual sex practices. Amazing in this day and age, no?

My wife loved her ob/gyn Julie Mead with Parkside OBGYN. Also came very highly recommended when we researched via google.
