extended wristband

This question is dumb, (but so am I). I need to find a trivial bit of apparel but can't think of the most direct way of going about getting it. If you check out this video around 0:25 (or 2:13 here), I need that thingie on the bassist's wrist. It's like a wristband but it's thicker goes up the forearm a little more. Were you in the Boston area where would you go to find something like that that doesn't involve just random stores + hope?

Back in the pre-Hot Topic dark ages, when I was but a wee New England punk rock girl, I used to rely on Hubba Hubba in Cambridge for all of my bondage-style leather accessories. If they don't have exactly what you're looking for, they'll be able to tell you who does.

Response by poster: Oh that place looks cool, I'll check it out tomorrow for sure. But I think the one Melissa Auf der Maur is wearing is probably just acrylic or something? Also has a bit of iconography, clearer shot around 0:10 here. I guess I don't have to get the exact same thing though.

They have vinyl/leather/EVERYTHING there. I'm pretty sure you'll find something comparable. Not sure about whatever the picture is on Melissa's- that might be something you'll have to add yourself to a plain wristband.

And PS- I meant to mention in my previous comment... I love Hole!

Heh, looks like the exact same thing my husband wears to protect his wrist from getting sliced up by the guitar pick up, except his is made by cutting off the top of an old black sock! Guessing you're looking for something a little less DIY though?

(Oh, and Hole frigging rocks!)

Cut a chunk of sleeve off a long sleeved shirt? Get said shirt at a thrift store so it's not a big sacrifice.

It just looks like a simple finger-less wrist warmer. You can get the kind with thumb holes or without.

Most of those images are of knitted wrist warmers but they're also really easy to make it you have basic sewing skills and some scrap fabric.

Google and you can find hundreds of instructions on how to make a pair — that way you can get exactly what you want.

You might want to try The Garment District in Kendall Square in Cambridge.

Piggybacking, I've been looking for some cloth cuffs with metal rivets in them for four or five years ever since I lost mine. Anybody got any ideas? Online is preferable...

I guess there's always Newbury Comics and Hootenanny in the Garage (Harvard Square) if you want to, uh, probably pay too much... but they could have them. Also if localness isn't too important there's etsy for handmade ones, which can be quite awesome.

(Oh, sorry, wrist stuff on etsy, rather.)

Response by poster: Hm, didn't glance at Newbury Comics but I checked out Hootenanny a couple weeks ago while looking for fingerless gloves and they didn't have anything (I eventually got random gloves from H&M @ Downtown Crossing and cut off the fingers myself.)

The Garment District was a total bust coz they were all ramped/focused on Halloween costomes and stuff (plus I think a lot of these types of stores are way more fun for girls and geared towards a female clientele.. stockings ahoy.)

The chick at Hubba Hubba was a bit dour but yeah most of their cuff-type-things were hardcore leather, I got a random smaller one that's softer though. I also ah, picked up a more specialized implement. Definitely worth checking out.

Brittanie, you're definitely correct that it's nothing elaborate. I'm just a clueless sort of person :) And zusty's etsy idea is probably the best. I finally lucked out though I was walking down around Copley and ducked into a sports store and asked about really wide wristbands and the girl was like "well you can wear two together" and I was like, "brilliant!" I think it worked out fine (left wrist), and they feel nice and soft too, I'm gonna wear them around :D
