Tivo on Tivo lovin?

I've got a series 1 Tivo thats become a paper-weight ever since I upgraded to a series 2. So my question is, can I somehow hook up the 1 to the 2 as a sort of back-up machine?

Not that I know of... you can look at this recent AskMe about using a Series 1 without service for other options, though.

I'd start here: http://www.google.com/search?q=tivo+forum

Thanks shiny and inter, but I've already checked those options.
I keep thinking that there has got to be a way to do this, but no luck so far.

Unfortunately, the video format of a Series 1 and Series 2 TiVo are completely different (series 2 video files are encrypted), so I don't think it be possible.
