HTPC and Comcast Set-Top Box

I just got a dedicated HTPC system and im having a hard time figuring out how to get my comcast service working with Vista Media Edition. Everything works okay as far as recieving a 'picture' to my TV, my only problem lies in having MCE control channel changing and recording TV using the MCE remote...

I have all the necessary hardware:
- AMD Process + 1gb RAM
- GeForce Video card with S-Video out (connected to TV)
- ATI Theater Pro 550 Card
...and for the most part everything works correctly besides controlling the channels via the MCE remote.

My comcast tuner (macrovision DCT700/US) has a line-in from the coax coming into my house. The output coax runs into my PC. The PC outputs to my TV via s-video. The connection works great...

When i try to view "live tv" on my MC(E) i have to set the channel to 4 (in MCE) and then change channels via cable set-top box using the comcast remote.

Is it at all possible to controll the channels using the PC/MCE remote only? During the setup of MCE, it asks for an "IR Control cable" for the comcast set-top box, but i dont see how i can hook up an IR Blaster to my set-top box, as it has no ports. Am i missing something here?

An IR blaster is an actual IR transmitter. You tape the LED at the end of the cable to the IR reciever on your cable box and the box recieves the signals as if they are coming from the comcast remote. At least that's how my setup works, I know some cable boxes do have a control input so they can be driven directly. No idea if yours does.

While setting up MCE, it returns an error that no IR Control cable was found... By taping the IR transmitter to the IR reciever, will this error go away?

The control cable plugs into your computer/USB IR receiver (i've never used it but I have it), NOT the comcast box.

The transmitting end of it sits in front or on the IR sensor on your comcast box.

After connecting a hauppage card that came with a ir blaster and receiver, the unit works successfully. unfortunately, i have to return both pvr card and ir accessories. does anyone know where i can get a receiver and transmitter unit online?
