What are your experiences with a UK based "SMS to email" service?

I'm looking for a (preferably free) UK based service that will allow me to send an SMS from my phone and have it emailed to someone else. What are your recommendations for/experiences with such a service?

Is there a reason why you're not just SMSing the e-mail address directly? Perhaps your provider doesn't provide an SMS to e-mail gateway? (Have you tried it?)

Response by poster: No, my provider does offer email to email from my phone, but not sms to email.

My housemate is with Orange and he can send SMSs to email. So it is not the network but maybe a restriction on your contract or your phone itself - is it an older model, if so you may be on pay as you go...just ring Orange and discuss...
