Dust off my PSP!

What's the latest/greatest custom firmware for my psp?

What's my optimal (safest, easiest) way to get there? (I went 1.5-->3.10 oe which is where I am now)

I have done a quick look at pspupdates.qj.net but it seems there are all sorts of patches and add-ons I have to look out for? Or is that not the case and there's some all-in-one package I can use?

I think 3.71 m33-2 is the latest. You might have to patch it so that it will run 1.5 firmware stuff on it - I think the package is built so that it will work on a PSP-slim as well, and they don't support the 1.5 firmware.

Dark AleX == M33 apparently. I don't speak Spanish, but it looks like the "3.71 M33-2 y addon del kernel 1.50 v 2" package might be what you're looking for.

That works. BTW in case anyone is wondering the demo for God of War is amazing. It's kind of easy, but in terms of graphical prowess, it blows everything else on the psp out of the water.
