Cliff-Notes for a Web Project

I am looking for real-life documents surrounding the development of a website. My organization is quite inexperienced in building a website from scratch and we are looking for some documents to get us started. Can anyone point us to some actual specifications, wireframes, test scripts, and project plans for website design and development?

That's going to be a tough one, as the web is so varied. Are there any sites you can point to that show what you're looking to do web-wise?

Kaizen, it'll help a whole lot if you let us know what the purpose of the website is. Is it a simple Internet billboard for your organization? Will you be selling stuff or hosting discussions or offering downloads? Will one person be 100% in charge of maintaining it for the foreseeable future, or do you hope that different people will collaborate to keep it going? The question is almost impossible to answer unless you tell us more, because we're going to suggest completely different tools depending on what your goals are.

If you're looking for some solid checklists/guidelines about the issues you need to think about in webdesign, (I know, not exactly what you asked), but "Web Redesign: Workflow That Works" is a good book... linky goes to the newer version of the book.

hire an expert to do what they're trained to do. you'll be far happier with the end product, and you can spend your time in your expertise.

Step Two has a ton of fantastic papers. I've shared them internally in my organization and they've been persuasive and useful.
