How to I get sound from my soundcard into Skype?
I'm trying to use Skype to record a podcast with someone else... Is there a way that I can get sound from my computer's soundcard into Skype? That is I basically want to use the web to add sound effects in real time -- I want to click on a YouTube video, soundboard, MP3 etc. and have that sound be part of the recorded Skype conversation that all parties can hear. A similar question has already been asked -- but going down that rabbit hole was to no avail. I've tried every conceivable line splitter configuration on the microphone input, even using multiple computers.
Is there software or a Skype plugin can do this?

Hmm, I didn't explain myself well.
You can probably do this with one computer, by connecting the system output to VAC, along with the mike input, and piping that into Skype. Note that you would need a secondary playback device; if Skype is outputting on the main system sound channel, you will get instant, unbearable feedback.
You could also do this with a second computer, hooking it to the Aux In. Some soundcards will let you mix those signals, but if yours doesn't, VAC should combine them for you.

My lovely Edirol UA-25 external soundcard has a button exactly for this, but for what you're using it for there must be an easier solution!
A solution that I don't know. Sorry!

Virtual Audio Cables is the answer.
Pipe your soundcard mixer output into a VAC channel. Use that VAC channel as the audio input for Skype.

Please have a look at TunesUp (http://tunesup.eib-portal.com). It's a piece of software that sits alongside Skype and allows you to put your sound card output into your Skype conversation.
