Question: Where would you work (or not), in Austin?

AustinFilter: What software/web development companies (located in Austin) would you want to work for?

So, I want to move to Austin--but I need to find a job first! I just graduated from a liberal arts college with a CompSci degree, so I'd like to get a job programming.

I've checked out Craigslist, Indeed, etc for listings, and have had little luck--I feel most of these postings are made by recruiters rather than the companies. I've also kept an eye on more 'niche' sites such as Joelonsoftware, Lifehacker, and of course Metafilter, but postings for Austin are rare. So I'd like to start seeking companies directly.

I have found generic lists of software firms in the area (here and here) but these are long and daunting--so I've come to MeFi as an initial filter. Know of any "cool" companies in the Austin area? i.e. not a "The Office" work atmosphere. Any that are working on interesting projects? (My CS interests include networks, user interface, and anything to do with the internet. I also have a Film & Media studies minor, i.e. I'm a "creative" type).

I know that "networking" is my best bet to landing a job, so I'm also getting alumni contacts in the area from my campus career services, but what companies should I check out (or avoid) in the meantime? Are there any Austin-centered tech sites I should check out?

Jon at Polycot is a friend of mine. I have no idea what he's like to work with, but he's a neat guy.

Almost every webdev-type person in town seems to do a stint at Pluck. At least, all my friends do.
