Mod me up!

TES: Oblivion. Mods. Which ones should I get? I'm already familiar with these recommended/must-have lists, but it's all a bit much.

I have shivering isles and all the official mods, so I went ahead and grabbed the unofficial patches for all of those, but what else? Bonus points for hair mods other than that Ren's thing which, while they look nice, are all kinda long for my taste.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking bethblog.com. The PR folks occasionally point to mods people dig around the office. Recently mentioned: Qarl’s Texture Pack III, Oscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul, Djangos Unique Features and possibly others if you look back further.

Sorry I don't have any personal recommendations, but between the company blog and the forums you'll probably find most of the interesting stuff.

Response by poster: yeesh. 2gb for qarl's? oh well, I've seen it mentioned in enough places to give it a shot. guess I'll have to leave it downloading overnight.

I'm not a fan of the default leveling system, so I like the AF leveling mod.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is great, but it does change the game pretty significantly. It's a change for the better, in my opinion, but it's something to be aware of.

I highly recommend one of the interface mods, because the default UI isn't so hot. I like BTmod.
