Where to camp in the Catskills?

I need to find a campground in the Catskill park region for tomorrow (and the next 4 days) as part of an emergency birthday trip.

It will be just the two of us. A pretty place in the woods, near hiking trails, and with somewhere to shower would be great. Ah, and it would be best if it were not on the far west side. I've been searching for hours, but my inexperience with camping and ignorance in all things outdoors have left me sad and overwhelmed. Help help! Thanks!

Checkout www.recreation.gov and do a search for the area you are going to be in.

North-South Lake is "the biggest and most popular state campground in the Catskill Forest Preserve." You might also consider the other NYS DEC Campgrounds in Catskill Park

Seconding North-South Lake/Kaaterskill Falls. I'm not sure if they have showers, but there are several good trails, and its on the eastern edge.
