Need inspiration for a band name
September 18, 2007 4:54 PM Subscribe
Help name my friend's band. We need some inspiration and I know you guys are a creative bunch. The type of music is nu-metal / rock and the band is located in Argentina so English or Spanish names are OK.
If music will help get the creative juices going you can hear a sample track here (the track is by the old band, but the music is very similar).
So what would you name your nu-metal band if you had one?
(If you actually might have one, don't answer this question - we don't want to ruin your future chances by stealing your name)
Thanks in advance.

Response by poster: Great answers so far. Ones we especially like up to now are Frank and Specific Gravity.
By the way, they have a deadline of Sunday to decide so I'll post what is chosen as soon as it's known.
One extra thing I should've mentioned is that it is good if they're easy to pronounce, to avoid difficulties for speakers of non-native speakers (not that I am sure that Ebpx and Onaq are really words).

Take it for what it's worth - I've been harboring a desire to start a band called K-Theory for quite some time, but I always thought it sounded too nu-metal-y for my taste.

I'm forwarding this list that a friend thought up. I hope it makes more sense to you than it does to me, not knowing Argentinean slang...
The Parrot's Seashell (la concha de la lora)
El Hijo Opa
El Boleto Capicua
Analephbetos
The Ether-nots
Nía Palo
La Peronga [hey, an angry mob of armed taxistas would be good publicity]
I bet they'd get a lot of people to their first
gig if they called their band "Bersuit Vergabarat."

I figured out recently that the pool of MeFi usernames is also a pretty good source of prospective band names. Just look around the site here and you'll see something good. The Pollomachos, Interrobang, the Scodies, the Hama 7, you name it.

umbú, yeah their are already some interesting Argentine band names out there. Have a look at Argentine Rock bands on Wikipedia.
I haven't marked any as best answers, because I think I'd have to mark them all then. I appreciate everyones contribution.
p.s. when is the Buenos Aires meetup?
