Is the 404 an Error?

I want a videocamera with good features that can easily transfer ready-to-upload files to my computer.

I want to record video and have it be easily uploadable to the computer. Should I get this Archos 404 and then an additional attachment kit (because amazingly though it says 'camcorder' on the box, apparently it doesn't record out of the box?)?

Or is there some kind of workaround to have it record video without having to purchase an additional kit?

Or perhaps there is some other video recorder/media center type deal the hive would recommend?

I'm running XP. Thanks!

I use Canon's TX1 and love it. Records in 720p/1080i HD formats and has a 10x optical zoom that can be zoomed will videoing. For storage I have a high speed 8gb SD card which holds ~1hour of HD video or plenty more of lower grade vids.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, your questions weren't fully clear. This is not a media center type deal, strictly a camera/camcorder.

Response by poster: Thanks for the reply - I'll check out the tx1. Is it easy to get video on the computer in an uploadable format (say, to youtube)?

yeah it is, I just use a memory card reader, it records it in mjpeg format, easily recognizable. But you need to record it in a lower size or convert them afterwards because the files will be too large.

Good info on the TX1
