Who covered that Cure song, 'A Forest'?

Which band did a cover of The Cure song called 'A Forest'?

It's been a while since I heard it. It has a Latin sound to it but it is sung in English. It was an acoustic version if I remember correctly.

Thanks!

Wikipedia says that Robert Palmer did a 1981 version.

Also covered by Nouvelle Vague (same Wikipedia link as above).

Searching by song on allmusic.com returns three pages of possibilities. You want the ones composed by Simon Gallup.

(But my money's on Nouvelle Vague.)

According to The Covers Project, your choices are among nine artists I've never heard of before (one's at the bottom of the list).

Death Lies Bleeding did one that was on an album called 100 Tears - A Tribute to the Cure. My guess is that's the one you're looking for.

Yeah, you're thinking of the Nouvelle Vague cover from their first album, Nouvelle Vague.

It does not say that, though I can see why you'd think so from the subhead. The "Robert Palmer" version is a particular Cure concert performance.

You're right, D.C. Mea culpa.

Norwegian black metal band Carpathian Forest covered this on their "Black Shining Leather" lp.

It's out of character for their normal sound, and surprisingly good.
