filter/firewall new workaround?
September 3, 2007 11:23 AM   RSS feed for this thread Subscribe

Please help me see if this gets around filters/ firewalls at work school.

If you are blocked from cerain sites at work / school can you see if this works: Go here

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/mobile-tv-video-services/mobile-tv/webnwalk-demos/

Click on a phone and then then surf the web through a virtual demo phone.

I would be especially keen to see if this gets past the "Gt. Firewall". You know what that is is you suffer with it.

BTW I am not on T-mobile and have no links to them I just want to see if it is a new workaround.

I'm in Beijing, and the demo phone browsers behaved just like a standard connection would with the firewall.
Wikipedia spun its wheels getting nowhere, as it's currently on the blocked list again. tibet.com gave an immediate server reset commensurate with it's hard-blocked status.

The problem is that the website is using a simple iframe. This means that all web access is coming through your connection - there is no difference between using your normal browser window and this site.

If, on the other hand, all the data went through t-mobile's web server (it doesn't, but if it did), then there is a decent chance this could bypass filters, much in the same way one of those proxy sites work.
