Question: Reliable property value information?

I'm looking for a resource to find current information on the price of housing in the NY metropolitan area.

Specifically looking for reliable measures of market rent (scouring ads has proved fruitless), average apartment/house size, property values, etc. preferably with historic numbers as well. Is there perhaps a one-stop shop on the web for this sort of information?

I don't know that it's be any better than the classifieds, but realtor.com is good for assessing how much you can get for your money per neighborhood

Manhattan Rental Report offers breakdowns by neighborhood, doorman/non-doorman and number of bedrooms. It also has historical data for 2007.

I just found this myself so I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it looks nice.
