Cleveland wedding planner recommendations

Can you recommend a wedding planner in or near to Cleveland?

We're getting married in about a year. We'd like someone else to do the heavy lifting for us. We live in California so we have to plan long distance, and we want to avoid the stress of making a million decisions and juggling a score of vendors ourselves.

Also, bonus points if you can recommend an irreligious venue.

I tried googling for this but it was a spam disaster.

I don't have a recommendation (sorry) but I know a couple of places that will - depending on your leanings, I would check out Indiebride and The Knot. Here is the Cleveland planning page at The Knot and here is one review of Cleveland area vendors on Indiebride. I definitely recommend their forums if you're planning to do something even slightly untraditional. The Knot is infamous for its princess-fairy-tale-Wedding Industry Complex obsession, but it has some good resources. Apologies if you've already found these.

I don't have an answer to your question but I do have a friend who is an excellent wedding photographer in Cleveland. Email me if you want his info.

Cleveland.com has a Wedding Planner forum. If you search the forum for "planner" then only one post comes up. The volume seems to be just a couple posts a day covering all aspects of wedding planning so it may not be as helpful as The Knot. Cleveland.com also has a wedding information page which is woefully outdated but good places for your wedding photos in 2004 are still generally good places for your wedding photos in 2008. Stan Hywett in Akron, The Museum of Natural History, Rockefeller Park and the Cultural Gardens and the Metroparks Zoo seem like some of the most interesting and also maybe good spots for the wedding or the reception. On the forum, they're discussing the Botanical Gardens as a venue for something.
