Question: Crispy tasty bumble bees

What is the name and recipe if possible for the crispy black octopus I used to eat in Singapore when I was a child?

My family called them bees, because they looked like fried bumble bees (and I guess fried bees seem more appealing to eat for a kid than baby octopus). The most remarkable thing about them was thay they were sweet and crispy and dark.

I have tried googling, but without a name have had no joy.

A recipe would be great too, as I am wanting to perfect the dish for this summers family get together.

I've asked around and everybody just refers to the dish as "crispy baby octopus". Searching for recipes of that doesn't seem to yield much information.

You could possibly try asking the author of this blog, who might have a clue, or wouldn't mind tracking down the answer to your question.

Another note: the dish is definitely Chinese in origin, possibly Cantonese.
