Where to buy used cell phones in New York?

Are there any stores where I can buy used verizon cell phones in New York, preferably Manhattan or Brooklyn?

It's Manhattan, so you buy it from the back of a truck, of course.

Every odd block in and around Chinatown has guys at tables selling used cellphones. Many will be Verizon. Most will probably even work. I bought one once. Worked fine. YMMV.

I found on some blog that you can walk into a big box-mart and pick up a Verizon pay as you go phone and just call them to activate it with just the ESN of the pay as you go phone.
