Does anyone know where I can get some decent scans of Goofus and Gallant (Highlights Magazine) strips from the 70's? posted by reblix to grab bag (5 comments total)

Counting on the Internet for quality scans is always going to be more miss than hit. Your best bet on this one is to hit ebay, do a search for "highlights lot" and go from there.
I just looked and somebody has 7 of them from the mid-60s (I don't thing Goofus and Gallant would be so different from '64 as opposed to '74), and all for a 99 cent starting bid. posted by grabbingsand at 8:55 PM on July 29, 2007
(The implication of my answer being, of course, that you'd scan them yourself upon receipt.) posted by grabbingsand at 8:55 PM on July 29, 2007
reblix, are you looking for something specific, or just a random sample of the strips? I have (pls don't laugh) damn near every Highlights issue from my subscription in the early to mid 70s. I could be convinced to scan a few for you if you tell me more about what you're looking for/what you want them for. Email is in my profile. posted by donnagirl at 12:01 AM on July 30, 2007

That's what they look like now? Wow. I'll admit that the original drawings are fuzzier and more vague than I remembered, but I still prefer them. hey you kids, off my lawn! Gallant wouldn't do that!
So, I scanned some of the strips from 1974-75. Here are twofavorites. posted by donnagirl at 8:18 PM on August 2, 2007
