WTF is this thing, and dear God WHY?

I don't even remember where I found this image, but I find it fascinating. Enthralling, even. The question is, what the hell is it? Who made it? Why? And where can I find a higher-res copy? I'd love to have it on a t-shirt.

It's a rooster zebra contemplating a grilled cheese sandwich.

A quick Google search on 'zebra rooster grilled cheese sandwich' brings us here , to the website of one Matt Forderer - does this help?

By Matt Forderer, in case that isn't obvious. I found it by image googling grilled cheese zebra. (hee herichon)

You know what my mistake was? I was calling it a "chicken zebra". Didn't even think about using "rooster".

It appears he's a bit of a surrealist, too, so I guess that answers my "why" question with a resounding "Because!" as well.

Thanks!

You can get a t-shirt made by Cafe Press and sell it on the same site. Hungry zebra-roosters everywhere will want one.

No, the correct surrealist answer to "why?" is "Fish!"

Forderer clearly doesn't subscribe to Occam's Razer.

Seeing as you've already gotten an answer, may I contribute a non-constructive reply and thank you for bringing the rooster zebra to my attention.
