Where to buy sold out back issues of magazines online?

Are there any online sources (besides auction sites like eBay) where one might find back issues of magazines, ones that are no longer available from the publisher?

Late last year, the UK-based SF/Fantasy rag SFX published an anime special that was only available at the stands, not delivered to subscribers. There are a number of articles in that issue I'm interested in. Trouble is, the publisher's online store is sold out. There was a single copy on eBay that I could find, sold as a collectible and with ridiculous postage costs overseas to Finland, where I live. Too expensive by far; used condition mags would be fine by me. Are there any convenient sources for stuff like this, or is one limited to scouring used book shops that also stock mags?

Your best bet might be a comic book store. Most of them carry sci-fi/horror related magazines, including import titles, so there's a chance one of those places would carry a back issue.

Some used bookstores carry magazines--try running a search through AddAll. I've also had occasional luck with Amazon.

Abebooks lists a bunch of SFX magazines; just narrow the search by adding the month/year in the title field. Libraries can use Absolute Backorder Service, although I don't see SFX in a quick scan of their catalog.
