Where can I play piano in Brooklyn?

Does anyone know a place where I can play piano in Brooklyn? I am living in Cobble Hill until August, and am looking for a place to keep in practice. I was bumming out at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for a while, but it's not too convenient to travel to and it's pricey ($15/hr.) I am not a classical player, so don't need a place for hours a day. In fact, I would be happy with two hours or so a week.

I'm really hoping that someone here is going to invite you to practice at their house. Come on, metafilter!

You might consider volunteering a couple hours of time in the dayrooms of nursing homes in your area. Many will have a perfectly good piano, and would be happy to have someone stop by routinely and play it, if you don't mind having residents listen, and perhaps sing along.

And if you know some good barrelhouse, you might get invited to play for dance or excercise classes, too!

It helps that I'm Catholic and am polite and sincere enough to apologize my way out of any misunderstandings, but this has always worked for me: go to church.

Any church of any denomination (within reason) should have a beautiful, in-tune piano. Many churches don't lock their doors, or at least have very long hours for people praying. Poke your head inside, see if anyone is in there, and if not, bang away!

The Belanthi Gallery on Court and Pacific offers piano lessons. It's possible that they might let you skip the lesson part.
