Help me find an old (mid- to late- 80s), impossibly obscure, pistol-type stand up arcade game. [more]

It must have been about 1986 or 88. I believe the graphics were straight up animated, and the gun is introduced as being able to "shoot the lips off a cockroach." (Or something to that effect) I remember one level where the player is riding in a cab shooting people while moving around a baseball diamond.

Based on what you've said, the genre you're looking for is called a rail shooter, specifically with a light gun. You should find what you're looking for on that list. Given the time frame, I'd say it might be Freedom Force.
