Optometrist recommendation in Chicago, IL

Need to find a *cheap* Optometrist/Ophthalmologist in Chicago.

Any suggestions? Also, does any one know whether any national chain are running any specials these days? Thanks.

Which do you need, a doctor or a glasses-monger?

If you know (or can get) your prescription, see Glassy Eyes web-log about buying glasses online. I can't help with the M.D./O.D./D.O. for your area.

Most of the chain glasses store have an optometrist working for them. Try Costco or specialized places like Site for Sore Eyes or For Eyes etc. (should be many options in the local yellow pages). These guys are usually competant to write a perscription and, hopefully give you a referral if they spot anything questionable. (An Opthalmologist is real doctor with an MD and a specialization in eyes - an Optometrist is not.) You don't have to buy from the place where you get hte perscription - you can get a copy and take anywhere, including on line.
