What's the best dictionary to use in conjunction with Word (Windows)? I am a writer and would like to search/cross reference definitions--and synonyms, if possible--directly from my file in Word, and without going online. Webster's Third New Unabridged is my go-to dictionary, but the reviews of its CD-ROM leave me confused. Any advice would be appreciated.

I use the free version of WordWeb. I have a shortcut to it set up on my desktop to be accessible by pressing ctrl-alt-t, and thus I can eschew Word's dictionary/thesaurus entirely. It does definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and a lot of other things if you buy the full version. It has worked very nicely for me for about 6 years.

I second the motion for WordWeb. I've had it for ages and it's a fantastic little workhorse.
