3G data card rental?

I would like to rent a 3G GPRS data card for a month in New York City. I live in the city, and would like to pick it up today. My Googleing only reveals similar services abroad. Does anyone know if such a service exists in NYC?

It must exist because it is just too useful for construction companies and everyone else that does business where there aren't utilities in place. Its just a matter of finding a place that will do a short term rental. You might look into places that rent other gear for short term events like radios, walkie-talkies and what not. Also, cold calling your local Sprint/T-Mobile/Verizon offices might be fruitful.

If it doesn't need to be GPRS, you could go with Verizon. They have a 30 day test drive, make sure its on data cards too (I think it is). Which you could use to get you through the one month.

Cellhire Does it, but it's like $350 a month, plus fees and delivery and a $225 deposit. I don't know of anyone that does walk-in service on this in NYC, but if anyone would it might be the folks at B&H, or maybe TekServe.

For the price of a rental, and if you're staying in NYC, you could almost pay for a full year's contract.
