Where can I learn to salsa dance in NYC?

Can anyone recommend a good, but affordable place in Manhattan (preferably near Soho) where I can learn how to salsa dance, without requiring me to bring my own partner?

I'm not sure what your guidelines for "affordable" are, but you might look at Stepping Out Studios on 26th between 5th and 6th. I took salsa classes there a few years back and they were great. They rotate partners every few minutes, so even if you do bring a partner, you end up dancing with everyone in the class.

A couple years ago, at least, this place was hosting salsa classes twice a week and you didn't need your own partner. A phone call would let you know if they still offer them.

Don't worry about the partner, just look for a place - I have been to a lot of dance studios and clubs, and I have yet to see any that require people to bring their own partners.
(You can't actually learn properly if you're always dancing with the same person. From time to time someone will bring a partner and not want to dance with anyone else, and that's fine too, but it retards their dancing).
