Question: Optometrist recommendation (for contact lenses) in Washington, DC?

Optometrist recommendation (for contact lenses) in Washington, DC ?

Any recommendations for an optometrist in DC that does a good job with contact lenses? Before I moved to DC, I usually went to an ophthalmologist, but he didn't really specialize in fitting people for contacts. My contacts have been giving me problems, and I've had to switch to glasses. I'd like to see someone locally who can help figure out how to get me happy with contacts again. Thanks! (additionally, I don't have vision insurance, so that's not a consideration)

Dr. Namtran Pham at Virginia Square on the Orange Line is an excellent opthalmologist.

I went to Embassy Opticians in DuPont and they did the works for a contact newbie, fittings, recheck etc...

I DID have vision insurance but it was rendered essentially useless due to my apparent slight astygmatizm..

We have also been very happy with Embassy on Connecticut just south of Dupont Circle. The optometrist I saw there was great, and very happy to talk about options for contacts and what everything meant. I didn't post before, because I can't find or remember her name, she's a young Asian woman, sorry!

Dr. Warren in Bailey's Crossroads is the best optometrist I've ever had. He got me back into contact lenses after I gave them up for a few years. According to his bio, "Dr. Warren is a third generation optometrist, who started working in his father's offices making contacts and glasses at the age of twelve....Dr. Warren also provides custom contact lens design and fitting for special needs patients with keratoconus or distorted corneas."

dr siegel at the myeyedr in ballston is great! very awesome guy, and when you get contacts there, you get a years supply, so if you run out, you just go get more. they will supply you for a whole year even if you throw them away 3 times a week.
