Question: how can I email myself in the future?

I want to be able to email myself into the future, using Gmail. So for example, 3 months from now, I want to receive an email from myself reminding me to renew the license sticker on my car. How can I do this? If not Gmail, then how?

GMail doesn't directly allow this. Use futureme.org

My Gmail account now has a new link at the top that says "New! Event Reminders!" which takes one to a calendar, which seems to accomplish exactly what you want.

Seconding dcjd's advice to use futureme. I've used it in the past myself, and even forgotten about some of the emails! Hasn't failed me so far.

meehawl: i have, for years. Doesn't really work for me anymore, coz i am dependent on that specific software. I want to be able to receive emails which stay in my inbox until the task is resolved. Otherwise, I just dismiss it, and forget about it.

Google Calender, iCal, etc, etc, all do this. They will email you reminders.

The Google calendar is amazing. You can also have it send you a text message to your cell phone.

nthing Google Calender reminders...I use it to remember to do Gas Meter readings. One word of caution is that for awhile there, the default settings for the reminders didn't actually e-mail you, so you will want to make sure you test it out before you go into "fire and forget mode"

As an alternative, I use bitbomb.com for that purpose. It sends SMS messages to my cellphone reminding me of appointments and tasks. You can specify the time and date, so its handy for appointments. Oh, and its free.

Amazon sells real calandars. The Stuff on my Cat daily one is isnteresting enough to remind you to turn the page every day.
