Where can I buy cotton candy in Calgary, Alberta?
Is there anywhere besides Calaway Park and the Calgary Stampede? I need it asap, and the Stampede won't start for another week, and Calaway Park requires me to pay the park entrance fee before buying anything.

Besides the obvious googling, have you tried your local generic convenience/gas station store? They often have bags of it next to the bags of popcorn and other full-of-additive-foods.

Best answer: At the cotton-candy/popcorn stand at the farmer's market in the old Currie Barracks. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It should be open in half a hour.

Here in little old Billings, Montana you can find cotton candy everywhere. No, it may not be freshly-made before your eyes, but it's at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, grocery stores, convenience stores (gas station stores), video rental stores, etc. You can get fresh cotton candy at Chuck E Cheese's Pizza. (There's one at 2612 32 St Ne, Calgary, AB, Canada - (403) 294-0112.)
You can also check kid-oriented fun places, like amusement parks, mini-golf courses, game arcades, shopping malls, etc.

Deej, Calaway Park is the only year-round amusement park in Calgary that I know of (that despite the city being more populous than the entire state of Montana), and Chuck E. Cheese's didn't have any cotton candy the last time I was there. It's nowhere near as popular here as it is in the US.

Last time I was in Chinook Centre, mind you that was Christmas 05, there was a place in or near the food court that sold prepackaged cotton candy. Customer service 403.259.2022 ext. 2 could probably tell you for sure.

Well, Montana has zero full-fledged amusement parks. By amusement park I was thinking of something like a waterslide park, swimming pools, or one of those places that has laser tag, rock climbing, go-carts, etc.
And heck, no wonder it's not as popular there... no one sells it! :)

It's not quite ASAP, but Crossroads Market (Ogden Road SE at Blackfoot Trail) usually has cotton candy. There's a candy shop over by Regina's Meats that I think has it, and a Chinese guy who sells popcorn and ice cream at a food-court stall who does as well. Open Fri-Sun.

Response by poster: Thanks for the answers everyone, to answer some of the comments:
1. Yes, of course I googled it, checked the phone book, did some looking on my own.
2. I went to several gas stations, shopping malls, and candy stores before asking. None had any.
3. Chinook Center didn't have any, neither guest services or Kernals popcorn store could help me with.
4. Finally found "Candy Fluff" at the Currie Farmer's Market (thanks watsondog!), it's not quite the same, but close enough.

Thanks b_b!!!! I wish more folks would follow your example and follow up. If not for those of us with emotional investment in your plight (ha!) then at least for people who might be searching AskMe in the future. (I often post a "followup for posterity" long after everyone who answered has lost interest.)
If you ever find yourself in a cotton candy quandary again, and have enough time, email me and I'll be happy to mail you a bunch. It didn't sound like you had time for that on this go-around, or I would have suggested it.
