Is there any way to do Stereo Mix recording in Windows Vista when the soundcard does not support this feature?

short answer: No.

long answer: If you want to do a true stereo recording, with two recording channels that would be recording simultaneously, AND independent of one another - Still, No. I don't see how.

HOWever - Workaround here, if you don't need both tracks recorded simultaneously - you could record tracks one at a time (monophonically), separately - and then manually line them up for playback in stereo using some kind of multitrack software like pro tools, or Audacity. Not sure what the compatibility is like for Vista yet on those.

I presume you can play back in stereo from your system in question, at least. If you have enough horsepower to run Vista I would be really surprised if you managed to own a soundcard that worked in Vista, that would not let you do that. Unless it was broken. Or you are a nut trying to run Vista on a 386. :)
