East Beach recommendations?

We are escaping to East Beach in RI at the end of this week. We are planning on camping at the Burlingame State Park, but as we have never been to the beach or the park we'd love some suggestions

How early do you have to get to the beach to get parking? Any campsite recommendations? Also is there anywhere fantastic in Charlestown/nearby for dinner?

There's not a whole lot in Charlestown. I'd suggest checking out Narragansett and South Kingstown for dinner - plenty of options there, depending upon what you want. The Coast Guard House, Pump House, The Mews, Champlins, Caseys.... many choices. As for the beach, I've always preferred Narragansett Town Beach(very busy though), but the SK/Matunuck beaches are very family friendly and less busy, so they might be good choices if that's what you're after.

My personal Narragansett favorite is Turtle Soup.

A few other food options: Crazy Burger (Narrag.),Brickley's (Wakefield), Phils (Wakefield), Spike's (Kingston) Albies (Kingston), Chen's (Wakefield), CucinaTwist (Kingston) Giros (Peace Dale).

Up River Cafe (Westerly). Best bartenders in RI.

If it rains and you want to do some seaside shopping and sea an old carousel and a Victorian beach enclave, Watch Hill.

The Fantastic Umbrella Factory, Charlestown. Don't ask or worry about what it is, or why, - just go.

East Beach is awesome.
