Question: What is a good opinionated list of cultural events in Washington DC?

I've just moved to Washington DC and want to find a good opinionated list of cultural events (films, concerts, theater, galleries, etc.) in the city.

For example, Austinist's IST List and New York's flavorpill do a good job of hand-picking a short list of stuff that is worth seeing. What's the DC equivalent of these things?

Check out the Washington City Paper. It's not as convenient as DCist, but each section (music, arts, movies, etc.) has a list of the CP's picks.

You can pick up the print version of The Onion which has a decent listing of events in their AV Club section. Not particularly opinionated, but it does focus on some neat, lesser known events.

The free events at the Kennedy Center, while they do not come with reviews, are reliably quality shows if only because they're at the Kennedy Center, and its dang hard to get there.

Oh! Mr. Moon Pie, I wish I had seen your comment earlier! I totally would have gone to that show.

Also, if you're a student, it's good to get on the ATTEND mailing list at the Kennedy Center which gives you first crack at cheap (~$10) tickets to most things there.
