Question: NYC filter: How to visit the Chrysler building beyond the lobby?

To go beyond the lobby of the Chrysler building, one must have an appointment on one of the floors. Does anyone know of a doctor or another health practitioner in the Chrysler building?

What other kinds of appointments may I have in it? Job interviews? Other professional appointments with a lawyer or accountant, for example (although I have no need of either)?

Any other ideas out there about how to get inside for a look?

The floors just look like every other building. Unless you can get right under the eagles (59th floor) its not worth the effort.

The elevator doors in the lobby are really cool, however and worth a look. There used to be a dentist there but I can't find a current listing now.

I'd be careful about getting in under false pretenses. When it comes to tall buildings in New York City, the authorities can get edgy about that, for good reason.

There must be an occasional behind the scenes kind of touring opportunity, via a historical society, museum group, or the like.

If you don't actually have an appointment, you won't be on the list at the security desk, and they won't let you in. If you insist, they'll be so kind as to call the dentist to verify that you don't have an appointment before either calling the police or showing you the front door.

I actually seem to remember seeing pictures of a really cool lobby of a dentist's office with incredible views from the top of the Chrysler building. I'd try to find him and schedule a cleaning if you can.

yeah, it doesn't really exist on DVD. I say, check out the Woolworth building as well.

This Gothamist post from 2005 (2005?!) actually links to a NY Times article about Dr. Charles Weiss who has been a dentist in the Chrysler building for quite some time. The tiny photo in the Gothamist article alone is enticement enough to brave the Times' b.s. login requirement.

For great views from across the street, visit the German National Tourist Office at 122 E 42nd -- it's on the 20th floor, and the eagles are a lot easier to see, from their window.
