Can I embed special characters in my Director text field?

Macromedia (sorry, Adobe) Director question. If I paste text from Word etc. into my Director text field, and I then select it and change it into an embedded font, will there be problems with curly quotes, em-dashes and such on other users' computers? Or does the "embedding" process enable me to use these characters? I don't care too much about curly quotes, but I do like my em-dashes & would rather not have to change them all to double hyphens.

If you've embedded the font, and it is displaying correctly on your computer, you should be good to go. It isn't a question of whether or not Director supports these characters, it's a question of whether the font you're using has those characters as part of it -- and of course that means you need to embed those specific characters as well (unless you're embedding the whole font.)

Still, it's been a while since I've touched Director, so your best bet is to try it with an unusual font you've installed on that computer (and that has the relevant chars), and just kick it over to another computer without that unusual font. If it works on one, it should work on all.
