What is the best way to get from Long Island Islip Macarthur Airport to Brooklyn, NY?

You could take a cab or shuttle from the airport to the Wrong Island Fail Road (I mean Long Island Rail Road), and take that to the LIRR Flatbush Ave terminal in Brooklyn.

You can take the LIRR, but you have to first take a shuttle from Islip to the LIRR Ronkonkoma station. It's not hard, but a bit of a pain and the shuttle is like $6. Instructions are here at #3.

As said, you can then hop off the LIRR in Brooklyn or ride it to Penn station and catch the subway, depending on where in Brooklyn you need to go.

What's best? Fast? Cheap?

Where in Brooklyn? It makes a big difference. I don't think there's any approach that would be best for every point in Brooklyn.

That's a reasonable walk from the LIRR Flatbush Ave terminal, unless you have heavy luggage in which case it would be a pain.

You'd think a taxi from the airport to the LIRR Ronkonkoma station would be cheap considering the short distance but it's like $30.
