XP Pro: How can I uninstall directx9.0c without reinstalling my OS?

I want to roll back to 8.1 and I don't trust this app.

I'm pretty sure you've got two options.

The app you mention above, which you don't trust, and another program called DirectX Rollbacker (http://www.majorgeeks.com/DirectX_Rollbacker_d4718.html), which I cannot vouch for in any way. It may be just as suspect as DirectX Eradicator.

In general terms, I believe this is not something that is trivial or supported without use of the above creepy apps.

God speed.

Oh, also, if this was a relatively recent update to Direct X, you might be able to use System Restore to roll the system back to a point in time prior to the installation of Direct X 9.0c.

Good luck!

Supposedly you can change the version number in the registry then the installer will think you have an old version and try install itself.

I've tried uninstalling my Direct X before and it didn't work. If you've got those sort of problems you are better off reinstalling.
I know, I've done it. Afterwards my WinXP was more fuxxed than ever.

This question was asked on a Microsoft Forum. I can't remember if DirectX rolls back when you do a repair install, but that might be an option. Good luck.
