I need to put a "This day in history" online for my organization's (custom) dates and history. Is there a website / piece of software out there that does that?

Mr. Pop Culture is a great source of news stories, box office hits, Billboard hits, and advertisements of a particular week in a given year. Registration required, but it's free.

Drupal would do that.

Why not just create a Google Calendar, fill in the dates, repeat yearly, and grab the RSS/iCal/HTML for your website.

You could also take the RSS feed suggested by unixrat and let your organization's members subscribe to it. Or receive it daily via email using feedburner.
