I bought some new clothes. I don't know what to wear with them. Ladies? Particularly fashionable gents?

Here and here and here.

Jeans kind of look pathetic.

Their "Shop by Catalog" option is kinda neat -- you can see what they paired similar items with for the photoshoots. The April Catalog seems to have tops and skirts similar to the ones you linked.

(Oh, and their photo-shoot choices seem to match what I'd say, which is fitted, light-colored pants for the tops, cute dressy-ish tank tops for the skirt.)

kitchenette tieback: black capris
lime rickey tank: not sure, but something white
folk dance skirt: oh so pretty! if you want to keep the focus on the skirt, get a really simple, light colored blouse, kinda like this.

If you were going to wear jeans with them, you'd have to go for a dark demin/navy skinny leg jean - the sort that takes you 5 minutes to put on.

I was thinking for the folk dance skirt, you could even go with a very typical, very summer-y tank top. Solid colours, of course, don't take attention away from that gorgeous skirt.

Ditto CrazyLemonade on the Kitchenette - that one screams to be paired with something dark.

The Lime shirt, which I also really really like, I would wear with skinny jeans, like cholly suggested.

white skinny jeans (cropped would be cute) with the green top. little white keds would be cute. definitely some cute flats, ballet flats or some leather flip flops. a nice bold plastic big-bead necklace and bracelet in white or white plastic bangle.

dark rinse skinny jeans (again, cropped would be cute) with the printed top. again, cute flats would be cute. if you can find some cute peep-toe wedges. bc shoes makes some cute ones. i'd keep the jewelry small and gold.

for the printed skirt, i would layer a couple of wife beaters or some C&C bold tank tops (white and yellow would be cute). flappy leather flip flops or flat sandals, or some cute wedges. wear with a bold necklace in a longer length or a long headscarf tied like a wide headband.

Piggybacking on this question: is there a website where I could upload some photos of my various clothing combos, and have other people (with much more fashion sense than me) advise me on my style (or, more likely, lack of it)?

MyStyleDiary looks like it could be what I'm looking for, except I don't really see a way other people could comment my photos.

Ditto on the white cropped jeans. Because of the way the two tops sort of flare at the waist I would stick to something slim fitting on the bottom, and probably short because of their summery feel. I hated my dark rinse skinny jeans for quite some time but then I cut them around the knee and rolled them up twice and now I'm living in them for the summer so that could work if you are wary of the skinny jean thing.

For the skirt, similar idea: I'd go with a fitted top. In addition to the tanks, a white halter top could be an option for something more dressy. Maybe even a "ballet" wrap top. Solid colors for sure.

I would go with wedges or flats as mentioned above. Heels would be too precious. I think violetk has a lot of it spot on.

gakiko, if you specifically mention on your page you are looking for feedback people can send you private messages. Although, imo someone in real life who knows your personality could help you best. Maybe a friend you know who's style you admire? Order some take away and have a mini photoshoot and clean out that closet.

For the kitchen tie-back, these.
i think violetk nails it perfectly.

i would stay away from the more ruffly white blouses a couple people mentioned. i think with a fuller skirt like that, you need a more tailored, close fitting top. of course it depends on your body type, but i am small and i know that combo would make me look like a fluffy cupcake.

Thirding violetk. Also with the tops, you can wear shorts (in again for grownups!); I used to be against shorts, but I declared defeat because I love the cute tops. Also a demin mini.

With the skirt, nothing ruffled or froofy, like the tops linked. Tanks are pretty much what you go with.
The problem with wearing a lot of Anthropologie pieces, like crackingdes mentioned, is the volume. The two shirts both flare out at the bottom, and they are unaware of any types of skirts but the circle skirt. They're hard to pair with other pieces and balance out. That's why I always stick with dresses; I'm lazy. The basic rule, however, is that you want to balance it out with something tightfitting. There are many good suggestions in this thread, but in case you really wanted to know what I would wear with them:

Kitchenette Tieback Top: White pleated skirt that hits a bit above the knee. Yes, it's continuing the flare and the volume, but the bare calves even it out. Pearl earrings or necklace, hair in a bun. Linen heels, in yellow or brown or the so difficult to keep clean white.

Lime Ricky Tank: The color is so vibrant you could do a great job of this season's colorblock trend, and the white piping means you could pull it all together with accessories. I'd wear it with a bright pink pencil skirt, white patent and lucite heels, whatever white jewelry you have on hand.

I really can't compete with violetk on the folk dance skirt, though I think it could easily go business casual with a white silk shirt and some heels. That's boring though, so I shall cede victory to another.

heh, i meant strappy leather flip flops, not flappy.

i would caution against wearing any bottoms that are wide or that flares out with those tops because they flare out themselves. you might be able to get away with wider legged pants if you were really tall and the pants are clean and well-tailored but otherwise, the proportions will be off.

ditto with the skirt.

a good rule to keep in mind is about proportions. if you are wearing something wide and/or flare on top, you want to keep the bottoms close fitting; and if you wear something close fitting on top, go with something looser on the bottom.

A white linen bottom -- a pencil skirt? Cigarette pants? with the first two. A fitted white linen shirt with the skirt.

I have a thing for linen, yes. But it does make simple a lot of previously complex wardrobe co-ordinations. It's cool and comfortable, and unstuffily non-sloppy.

(Or so I like to think, anyway. And maybe ignore me and go with skinny jeans if you're 17.)

For the lime rickey tank, wear it with tight black leggings and black heels. I would then pair it up with some of those Wilma Flinstone necklaces that are really popular right now, but in red. If you don't have that, do a hair band. Red, black, and yellow would be good colors for this tank. Don't do jeans unless they are the slim fitting jeans. The shirt is too poofy already, so you want to do a tight or sim bottom with heels.

For the skirt, do not do anything fluffy or with any additional patterns. If you want to add color, I would suggest getting a tank top and then those half jackets (that end at mid-back) to wear over it. You don't want to do a full jacket because that would shorten you and make you look bulky with the skirt's pattern. Depending on the length of the skirt on you, I would suggest heels, not flats. The trick to skirts like that is to make sure they don't make you look heavier than your actual body size. Wearing heels would elongate you and make you look slimmer and add the the feminine touch.
