I and my SO have to travel to the Sun City, Hilton Head, Florence part of South Carolina. We have a two day block where the person who we are to visit has to attend a conference. Whats to do in this area? Not interested in golf or other sports.

Hilton Head has nice beaches, good restaurants and lots and lots of shopping. Savannah is about an hour south and Charleston an hour north, both lovely and historic.

Definitely take some time to see Savannah. Beautiful and lots of cool history!!

Florence and Hilton Head are a couple hours away from each other. Are you visiting both cities?

Also, give Beaufort (that's Byooo-fert, not Bo-fort) a shot. Still lovely and Southern, but not as super touristy as Charleston or Savannah.

Google Maps says that it is more like 3 hours.

If drive along the coast rather than the interstate there are lots of nice little seaside communities, lots of great restaurants and Brookgreen Gardens.

I'll second Beaufort, its close to hilton head and one of the coolest looking small towns i've ever been too, lots of trees and cool old houses and shit. I've also had a tasty shrimp-burger in that area.
