The guy in the background is wearing a late 1970s Bullets away uniform (blue shorts), while Elvin Hayes is in a home uniform (white shorts). The fact that the away guy's number and team name is airbrushed out makes me wonder if it's either a composite photo, or if there was some sort of rights issue. Is this from a poster?

Best answer: Looks like that is actually Mike Gale of the San Antonia Spurs
(sans beard) -

According to this page:
"The game started out oddly as Spurs guard Mike Gale was forced to a wear an inside out Bullets uniform after losing his uniform at the airport."

BTW, the last link was the first hit on a google search "bullets uniform".

drezdn, in that picture, the player in the background is from a different team -- he's wearing a Nets jersey.

Ack, sorry about that, though finding it did help me track down the answer in a backwards way.

THANK YOU for asking this question. I had noticed that same oddity in the picture yesterday, and I was going to send it to the uniwatch guy.
