LSAT Prep Test Question: Does anyone have an opinion about TestWell's Manhattan classes?

I've been preparing for the June 11th LSAT through Kaplan, but I'm thinking about taking the October test instead. (My scores have gone up 10+ points, but I'm still lousy at the logic games and test day's only a few weeks away.) I'm thinking about signing up for a TestWell class, but it starts tomorrow night so I have to make the decision right away.

I can't give you advice on TestWell, but the PowerScore Logic Games Bible is widely regarded to be the best logic games study guide, if you decided you wanted to try self-study instead.

If your scores on the other sections are where you want them to be, you could potentially work through the LGB in time for the June LSAT.

Its been quite a few years since I sat for the LSATs, but I can tell you that after a very expensive prep course, what helped raise my scoes dramamtically was taking past exams, over and over.
IIR, at the time it was 4 sections, and I bought 8 or maybe 10 past exams and by taking them over and over, I just became quite atuned to all the tricks, feints and seductive wrong answers etc that the test writers use.

I self-studied. It worked well for me, and I had problems with LG too. YMMV.

My recipe: Logic Games Bible, Logical Reasoning Bible, a couple LSAC 10 Real Tests books. I also had the book from NOVA but I didn't feel it was particularly helpful; I guess it's worth a look if you have RC trouble. I had real trouble with LG, but the LR Bible helped me get from decent to really, really good in that section.

I have a crapload of LSAT tests and the PowerScore materials mentioned above that I'd be delighted to get off of my bookshelves. Email me with your address and they will be yours.

Talk to your Kaplan teacher and center manager. If you're not happy AT ALL you can repeat the class for free (i.e. still have access to the resources online and in-center) and take the October exam. It is called "HSG" or "Higher Score Gaurentee"

I think the best thing you can do is do the practice tests - that's what's going to help you with getting better and getting done in time. Can't say that my prep class really did much for me, it was doing the tests that helped. Though it did make it easier to have people to talk stuff out with - get some one reasoning from another direction if you don't understand why you got an answer wrong.

Do a couple of games every night - shouldn't take very long. For the individual games, I would recommend concentrating on getting it right rather than getting done on time. There's only so many variations they use in the exams, get used to recognizing them so you know how to solve them.

Additionally, also do a complete section from a test every night, timed. Just work your way through the book (I'm assuming you have some version of 10 Real LSATs). That gets you used to finishing sections within the allotted time. A couple of weeks before the exam, take a Saturday afternoon and do an entire exam, full on with timing. The week before the exam, do it again - then stop and relax for a couple of days before the exam. You'll know your stuff and stressing out about it is not productive.

Good luck.
